Mum's Birthday in Paris
Hi All,
Got time at work today to post some more pics of Paris and tell you about another of our days in Paris.
The Sunday we had in Paris was my Mum's 50th Birthday and i think she had a pretty fab day. We started the day slowly with breakfast at our flat and then caught the metro to Abbesses and then the funincular to Sacre Cour.
This is my absolute favorite place in Paris - sure the Eiffel tower is breathtaking but this wins for me. The stairs and park leading up to sacre cour are featured in the movie Ameile and i just find it so romantic and beautiful.
The streets of Monmatre were much quieter than they usually are - my guess it was because it was a rainy Sunday and the shops were closed but less crowds just make it easier to get around and take photos with out people walking through them.Behind Sacre Cour there is a square where may artists gather to paint portraits and sell their art. I took the photo below before Nick pointed out the notice the woman had posted about not taking photographs... oh well...
From here we caught the tube to Galeries La Fayette which is like Selfridges and i guess like David Jones too but 1000 times better. It was even more amazing than i remembered. Such a glamorous place to shop with absolutely every designer, fabric, style and colour you could possibly imagine. After about an hour of wandering we decided to stop for lunch. 50th Birthday lunch at Galeries La Fayette- Mum certainly wasn't complaining about it!It was abotu 4pm by this time so we walked (quickly as it shut at 6) to the Musee D'orsay. Lucky as it was the first Sunday of the month it was free entry. The Musee D'orsay has some amazing impressionist in it's collection including Degas dancers and Monets bridges. We also saw some very famous Van Goghs and Renoir.
That night we all went to dinner at the Buddha Bar. I book the restaurant after it was recommended to me by a colleague. Have to admit i was really nervous that it would not be as good as i wanted it to be - after all Mum only has one 50th birthday in Paris... Well guess what It was better than good it was AMAZING. It's hard to describe the place so click the link and see for yourself --- Buddha Bar --- The food was really great and the service perfect.
Hope you are all well and ready for Christmas - not long now!
Love lots
Cherry xx
