Barcelona - Day 3

I'm never going to get around to updating my blog with all the details of the Spanish holiday... but i'll see how i go in the time i have now (Thursdays lunch break) to get at least day 3 in. Realise now you may all have given up reading the Barcelona bits but i'm treating this as a journal too = P

Barcelona - Day 3 - La Rambla, Barri Gotic
On our third day we decided to treat our selves to a bit of a sleep in and slow morning. We seen to be quite good at slow mornings and it was well after 12 by the time we made it to La Rambla. My aim for the day was to figure out how to get to Montserrat. You'd think the best place to go would be the Tourist Information Centre... i was wrong... At the centre the woman quickly told me that all the trains were on strike. Nick said my face just dropped at hearing this... Montserrat was going to be one of the highlights of the trip... We asked if there was any other way to get there and were told there was a bus that left from Sans train station every day at 9am and returned at 5pm. At that stage the bus seemed to be our best chance so we left it there and decided to go to the station the next day and book tickets for Friday.
... I'll skip the rest of the day now and get back to it so that i can finish the above story ...
When we arrived Sans station it took us two laps of the bus companies to find the group Julia (if the tourist had called it by it's other and better signed name Eurobus then perhaps it would have been easier) The only reference to Julia was about the size of a postage stamp.... We asked the lady behind the desk for tickets for the bus and she looked at us like.. (i'd like to say 'like we were speaking another language' but... we were haha (bad joke) ) I began to explain to her about the strike and she said she knew nothing about it and that the trains were fine... Ok so now what!

We decided to go to the source and made our way to the station where the trians left from.. and low and behold the trains were.... absolutely fine! 10mins later we were on our way
I learnt a big lesson that day, to always check all available options. If i'd left Barcelona thinking i couldn't go because of a strike and then discovered the truth i would have been sooooo disappointed.
Ok so back to the rest of day 3...
Really the rest of the day was spent wanderring down La Rambla, visiting the market and sitting on the beach.. relaxed and rested i had nothing to complain about at all = )
Should get back to work now, for those that i had spoken to about work being... very average.. it's a bit better now with a few doors opening so keep crossing fingers for me!
Miss you all
Cherry xx
