Easter, Madame T and Sunday Sips
Back to work after 4 days off. They seemed to go so fast but it was lots of fun.
Thursdays play was better than expected. It was all about a high society woman who fell in love with her servant. Some hilarious moments!
Friday was a nice and warm 16C, (yes Becc 16 isn't a cold min like you suggest, here its barmy shorts weather) We decided to head back to the science museum to check out the Imax there. Saw James Camerons Aliens of the Deep in 3D - [soon to be added photo] Our plan then was to walk to Piccadilly, we got sidetracked tho and headed to the Natural History Museum to see the Wildlife Photography exhibition.
Thats the wonderful thing about being here... you can just set out for the day and make it up on the way, there is always something to see or do. To have look at some of the photos follow the link [here]. We did make our way to the Matisse Exhibition but when we saw the line we decided to call it a day.
Saturday in Windsor was good fun. Of course being Easter and the beginning of spring break the place was PACKED but hey that's what being a tourist is all about. We waited in the queue to get in for about an hour but it was worth it. The castle was amazing. Again there was a wait to get in to see Princess Margarets dolls house. Lucky it was behind glass as i would have sat there for HOURS playing dolls (still a little girl at heart). Wandered through the state rooms with all the gold and decoration, Nick was puzzled as to where they kept the plasma but aside from that the place seemed very comfortable.... = P After the castle we wandered around Windsor, found a flee market to browse and then the Eton School Chapel with an oval out the back that would have been a kilometer in diameter (HUGE).
.... some time later...
Ok so back to the blog, Easter weekend ended up being lots of fun, the Oxford v Cambridge boat race was a nice way to spend eater Sunday afternoon with the shores of the Thames packed with collage lads. After the race we headed to the pub for a 'sunday sipping session' in the late afternoon.
The latest drinking hole is the Champion in Notting Hill, very chilled and a great beer garden that gives of the impression that you are having beers in someones back yard.
One thing that's bizarre over here is that the pubs let you drink outside. For the last few weekends there have been people spilling out on to the streets with their beers. I've joined in of course but i still feel a bit naughty standing out on the street with a pint.
Nick and I went to Madame Tussards last Saturday - it was so much better than i had thought it was going to be! The first room was set up like a Oscars party with the wax statues placed among the crowd. As well as the stars there were a few wax photographs in the room and it was hilarious to watch people apologies as they walked in front of there shots, 'Oh gee Im really sorry sir' A tip for travelers tho - don't consider going on a bank holiday weekend ( Nick and I originally thought to go over new years and the line went for M I L E S and M I L E S!) also get your tickets before you go from the booth in Piccadilly that sells cheap theatre tickets, you'll save yourself up to £10 on a ticket.
Since it was payday on Wednesday i have bought tickets to Chicago for tomorrow night! Can't wait.. well actually i should say i can't wait an more... i have been waiting to go since well before moving to London Town.
Missed out on Glastonbury tickets on the weekend... unfortunately i couldn't quite afford them at a massive £130... plus they sold out in about 3 hours. White Stripes are rumored to be headlining which is a bit of a bummer as i would love to have seen them... oh well... for £130 i can get 5 nights accommodation in Europe so Im sure i will be able to find something to fill the spot.
Hope you are all well back home.
I have heard reports that the Crows beat Collingwood this weekend with a freak goal from Andy 'Norm' McLeod in the dying minutes of the game... sorry i missed it!
Love to you all
