Faith in London is returning
Hi All,
So London is slowly settling down to normal… Here is a bit that I emailed to a friend recently
"Nick and I now catch the tube together in
the morning (for most of the way) His line is out cause of the bombing which is
the main reason why he’s on mine but it’s also nice to know we are
together. Every now and again you can’t help but get visions about the
bombs. I sit there thinking what would happen if one was in my carriage,
and look at the people around and wonder who would be ok and who would not make
it… really tho you just push that stuff out of your head and keep going.
There have been 50 station closures over the past 4 days since the bomb so
everyone is on HIGH alert for anything unusual"
My faith in London returned on Saturday, apart from fact that when we stood at the tube station there was police man that checked the bins for… unusual things, we had a lovely day. Visited the Borough markets on the weekend, wow if you ever get the chance go when you are really hungry as the food is just soooo yummy! We gobbled up a venison buger each plus a punnet of raspberries, a pear apple and kiwi fruit juice, a lemon tart and a strawberry tart… and then both slipped in to food comas haha!
We then walked from London Bridge to Embankment where we had tickets to go and see a doco about the crossover between movies and video games… g33ky I know but the new lego star wars is pretty good fun so I thought this doco might be interesting… turns out that wasn’t the tickets i have bought and that this show was about modifying computer games and putting your own code in to change the game… Snoore…luckily Nick read the notes that were handed out at the start and we managed to escape with a refund before the intro… close call tho!
From there we wandered through to Leister Sq and then to Piccadilly to the Glassblowers for a few beers … which then meant that I was a too giggly to be heading out for dinner but since it was our housemates 30th there was no way we were missing out on the Brazilian feast that was planned. Ended up being quite a yummy meal – I had been keen to try wild boar but by the time the rare meats were brought to the table I was already bursting from the first 3 courses of beef, pork ribs, chicken wings and thighs and lamb…
From there we headed across the road to a bar in Westboure park called Harlem – very cool little place that had some great tracks to dance to. Bailed at about midnight… our feet were too sore after the BIG day but it was great fun.
Sunday was spent shock horror… cleaning the house… it was sooo dusty! On Sunday afternoon tho we did get to venture out – headed to Ravenscourt park to lie in the shade and read – or in Nick’s case watch the street ball that was being played on the courts opposite.
Today at work is well as boring as ever… plan still in motion and I’ll keep you posted.
Hugs and more Hugs
Cherry
