Ireland and Glasgow

Last post finished with the clifts of Moher ... From there we drove to Clifden for the night where Nick and Jon met Paddy O'Toole, born on St Patricks day. They were both most impressed and stayed at the pub drinking with him until well after midnight. Both were a little worse for off for it in the morning though....
Our drive out from Clifden was my most fav part of our trip. Here are some of my photos of the coastal drive.

From Clifden we drove to Donagal where we stay the night. By that stage I'd had enough cooked breakfasts and pub meals to last a lifetime so for dinner that night we found a Thai Restaurant that was delicious!
The next morning we drove from Donagal to the Giants Causeway (via Derry if you are from Ireland or Londonderry if you are a Northern Irelander) . At the Giants Causeway we went for a walk along the coast to some very interesting rock formations (called the Giants Causeway...)

The Giants Causeway

Me in the wind...

... And yes i do have my beanie on and then my scarf wrapped around my head... it was gale force winds and the locals were warning us not to go as it was too windy... (understandment!) It was so windy we all got back it the car with red faces from the wind being so strong... it was absolutly exhausting.

Babes on the Rocks

That night we stayed in Bally Castle and then the next day drove to Dublin via a quick lap or two of Belfast.

Dublin impressed me far more the second day we had there. When we started our trip there on the Saturday we found some cafes and a mall but on Friday after arriving from Bally Castle we got to explore a little more and it's a nice place, some great places to eat and shop and the streets were clean and pretty.

The next day we flew to Glasgow. Perhaps i'm going against the norm... but... i thought glasgow was great. It felt like a comfortable cross between my home town, Adelaide and London... i know that sounds odd but what i mean is it seemed to have a little bit of everything, and a young crowd too. Some trendy bars and then some places that were a little more rocky. Loved it and if i had longer there i'd consider doing a 6 month stint there... in the summer of course though for as much as i liked it it was kinda cold...

Here are some of the photo i took at the Necropolis in Glasgow

Our last day of the holiday was spent wandering the shops before getting a 5pm flight home. It was a great trip and i'd recomend anyone hire a car and do a similar thing in Ireland.

Hope you all had a great Australia Day.

Love Cherry x x
