Brugge weekend

I'll just set the scene, I'm on the couch with feet up, wireless internet connected, i've got myself a drink and dinner (roast lemon chicken is in the oven).....
Last weekend was just so lovely! If you ever want a peacful weekend away in a quaint european city full of all the good things (beer and chocolate) go to Brugge. One rule - don't go on your own, it's romantic and you need to share it with someone special.
We arrived in Brugge at about 11am (Eurostar to Brussels > train to Brugge) and then wandered to our hotel on Kateijnestraat which was about a 15 min walk. Our first impression were that Brugge was quite - almost empty. The front doors to the houses were on the foot paths which were narrow cobble stone with cobble stone streets too. Mum - I took great notes of the colours in Brugge, they are hard to describe but i will give it a go. Think stone grey and washed out reds, purples all very musky. The rooves were all tiles and many walls of the city coverred in ivy.
The first day we went on the walk titled Unsurpassed Brugge and saw the Markt, the Burg, Belfort and Minniwater (inc the lake of love). I've lots of photos and will email them around just as soon as i have had the chance to lable them. The only struggle was the many many chocolate shops on the way. At each one we drooled... and finally caved and bought a bag of truffles... phew..
Ok so i'm gonna go grab dinner now and will update this when i go to bed. In case any of you check this though i'll post now

Hi Cherry,
Sounds like a fantastic weekend away.
Tony and Cathy, Andrew and Susan (with Sam and Anna) were here for tea tonight. Wonderful night it was too. Roast Greek lamb with roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and steamed vegies followed by Summer fruits with yoghurt The Tony and Cathy made, followed by a relaxing coffee and Baileys while watching the George Harrison tribute concert on DVD.

Anyway off to bed now.
Cheers
John and Kerry
