Chinese New Year and the rest of the W/E
Ok so time for a bit more of an update from the weekend. The BAFTA's were the highlight of course but there was also lots to see on Sunday with all the Chinese New Year celebrations. Nick and I went along at about 2pm after a nice relaxing morning; have to tell you all too that i spent 30 min lying on our bed with the sun streaming though the windows on to me... it was just glorious!
The celebrations were spread out between Trafalgar and Leister Sq tho it seemed which ever Sq we stood at was the 'wrong one' unfortunately as we seem to always just miss the performance, action or fire crackers.
We then headed to China Town to see what was happening there (issue being i think the rest of London had the same idea) There were people everywhere all pushing to get the best view of the Chinese dragons as they made their way down the streets. The dragon would stop out the front of every restaurant where a small dance/ceremony would take place. Each restaurant owner had hung a Chinese cabbage and a red envelop out the front as an offering to the spirits (i'm guessing) and the dragon would collect each gift as he made his wa down the street with the drummers following. I did manage to get some great photos of this and i will send them on soon.
We didn't last long in China Town tho - the crowds where just huge, instead we made our way to Berwick St (off Oxford St) to look at the second hand DVD and Vinyl available. Sunday evening i cook honey roasted chicken and lots of vegetables and we rugged up on the couch to watch the untouchables (very good).
Today at work is a little slow... I have a yucky cold again... and could do with a BIG sleep but i won’t complain (much...) I am being taken out tonight for a lovely Valentines Day dinner to Just St James <-- click for a 360C tour, which i am realy looking forward to.
Hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day x
