Brighton/Hove for a English Summer weekend...

As you can tell from the title of the post... it rained on both the days we had away... Ah English Summers!
That didn't spoil it tho - We caught the train to Brighton at about 12 to arrive in Brighton an hour later then caught the bus to Hove where Maggie (see photo) and Tom were house sitting.

Number one on my list was to head to the BEACH, so we dumped our things an wandered down to the beach - about 400m down the road. Well it wasn't like the Brighton beach i remember from SA... all rocks.. no sand - it was really very odd and i'm not sure if it would be that comfortable to sunbake on but i was told that people do. The best thing about the rocks was the sound they make when you walk on them and as the waves rush over them.
We then headed to a lovely veggie cafe in Hove for some lunch and a walk through the North Lanes to shop.
At about 4 pm we went home for a snooze or a spot in front of the telly to watch the cricket.
That night we went out to the
Kroon Kat Lounge where a friend of Tom's was singing. I was a really fun night - the club had a house band that did about a dozen jazzy numbers and then there were some special guests that sang too - There was even some girls that sang with just sequined knickers and tassels on their nipples... Nick and Tom paid more attention to that performance than any other... funny about that!
The next day we headed to the Pier which is a bit like putting Magic mountain at the end of the Glenelg Jetty - a little kitch but good fun In the afternoon we wandered more through the back streets of Brighton and checked out all the shops before jumping on the train back to London at about 4pm.
All up it was a really good weekend and just having one night away from London was wonderful!
