Notting Hill Carnival Weekend
It was the Notting Hill Carnival on the weekend and Nick and I went along with some friends to join in the celebrations. The carnival is one of the biggest street parties in Europe with 250 000 joining in the celebrations on the Sunday and then 750 000 attending on the bank holiday Monday. Almost all the streets were full of people enjoying the party and on each street corner was sound system and amplifier pumping out music that just made you want to dance and dance and dance.
There were food stalls everywhere, selling all sorts of Caribbean feasts, Jerk Chicken the most popular.

The main event though was the parade, where 1000's of people were dressed in bright colours and singing, dancing and celebrating. In between each float were massive trucks each carrying a huge sound system and a DJ or two to ensure the sounds continue to fuel the party. The funniest part though was watching the tiny children in the parade dancing ... just like Beyonce! Tiny little Beyonces, they were just so cute and still a little alarming that they could shake they bootys better than me or any other people i know!
On Saturday night we went to Michelle's house to celebrate her birthday, a BBQ in there back yard - it was really wonderful to just sit in a backyard, eat BBQ, enjoy the warm evening and chat with friends. Thanks for a great evening Michelle - and Anzel - the BBQ was just sooo Yummy!Sunday was lamb roast at Sue and John Douglas' - wow Lamb roast are good and such a treat here too. Sue, John, it was really great to see you - have a safe trip back to NZ.
Monday was lazy - just the way a bank holiday should be!
Miss you all, Love lots Cherry
